It is vitally important that you take care of your skin – so it can take care of you

Dr. Yrastorza practices general medical and surgical dermatology with an emphasis on the education, prevention and management of skin cancer. He sees children, adults, and more seasoned adults (geriatrics).

Melanoma is the most common form of cancer (not just skin cancer, but any type of cancer) for young adults aged 25-29 and melanoma is the 2nd most common form of cancer in adolescents and young adults aged 15-29. As we age, the risk of getting a melanoma increases in both women and men. In this country one person an hour dies of melanoma. However, if a melanoma is detected early, cure rates are over 98%. Getting an annual skin exam is an important part of a comprehensive approach to excellent preventive medicine.
